Brenton West (BA Hons Photography, Dip. AD Silversmithing)
After art college I worked as a silversmith. I graduated onto restoring classic cars and then working in historic Formula 1. I have spent time working in the property business and for the last 15 years have made a life-long hobby of photography into a business by gaining a first class degree in the subject. My commercial work has seen me work for companies such as Renault (F1) , Sovreign Films(II), Warner Brothers, BBC, Zoological Society of London, Savills and The Royal Yachting Association.
I was invited to join the Devon Guild of Craftsmen and also passed the qualifying examination for the BIPP. A list of exhibitions is shown on the right.
For my art works I use digital, film (35mm and large format) and most recently use pure silver plates, to create traditional Daguerreotypes. I feels that sometimes in the frantic, impetuous digital world, (which I embrace) sometimes time has to be taken to stop and value an image.
Recently I have returned to silversmithing and have been involved on screen repairing various items for a popular BBC series.
Below pictures taken in each year of my life.
